Easy Journaling Tool

300 Writing Prompts Book Cover for Journaling

Is journaling on your “to do one day when I have time” list? Yes, it’s on my list too but I never seem to get around to it. Or, I start journaling but never stick with it.

In December I purchased a nice 5″x9″ weekly planner at TJMaxx. The journal was meant for things my younger son said and did. I tried to write in it at least once a week. The system worked well for a few months. It was manageable because I could remember things that happened the previous week pretty well. One day I was cleaning up and organizing my bedroom and I made the mistake of putting the journal on my book shelf and that was the end of that. It was truly a case of out of sight, out of mind.

Fast forward to this month and I was at Barnes and Noble because I had a gift card. I always look through the clearance section because you can find some really good deals, especially on books for children.

One book caught my eye: “300 Writing Prompts”. The price was only $6.98. As I looked through it, I thought that the prompts were fun and easy to write about.

Here are some examples:
“If you could be the best in the world at something, what would it be?”
“Have you ever been attacked by an animal?”
“What is a sure-fire way to distract you from the task at hand?”

I love these questions because I think they will be a fun keepsake for me to look back on. It will also be nice for my family to read and learn more about me. The questions are also great conversation starters. The best part about this book is that it is not dated, so I don’t feel the pressure to write in it every day. There is no falling behind, so I can go at my own pace.

If you would like to get this book for yourself or as a gift, the book is currently available at Barnes and Noble and Amazon and it’s even cheaper than when I purchased it a few weeks ago!

Do you write in a journal? What journaling style do you prefer? A blank journal, a dated journal, writing prompts?
